How to Choose Flow Measurement Products

To measure fluid in a particular plant or industry, flow measurement products are used. These products consist of a wide variety of devices that are designed to measure different properties from the flow volume to overall mass flow. To help you choose the right measuring tools or devices for your next application, we look at the different types of devices and which of these offer the best measurement solutions.

The Multiphase Meter

A multiphase meter uses measurements of electrical impedance and gamma to monitor and assess phase fractions. It can be applied to monitor flow back, well testing, and the monitoring of well-heads.

Vortex Meters

To measure a low viscosity liquid or gas in different environments, the vortex meter is recommended. These devices have been developed to produce direct output such as liquid and gas standard volume including mass flow. These types of meters have grown immensely in popularity owing to their incorporation in both the gas and oil industries.

Electromagnetic Flow Meters

The magnetic flow meter is one of the most widely used and known flow meters taking the place of devices that measure differential pressure. To measure the conducting properties of a specific liquid, these products are best suited because it offers a high level of performance across a wide range of conditions.

Coriolis Meters

The Coriolis meter is favored across a variety of applications because it offers some of the highest levels of precision assisting in assessing the quality and the consistency of products. These meters are considered low maintenance and it offers consistent measurements in a wide range of conditions.

Differential Pressure Meters

A differential pressure meter is an old technology that was first developed a century ago. Despite its old design, it offers a high level of reliability and performance and is one of the most commonly used devices in industrial applications. You can use a differential pressure meter for the purpose of measurement and to control specific testing conditions.

Ultrasonic Meters

The ultrasonic meter would be used to measure gas and fiscal oil. It works by measuring and monitoring the flow of liquid in a closed pipe by means of ultrasound operation. It is important to assess the purpose of the application as different types of ultrasonic devices are used depending on whether you are measuring temperature or pressure.

Venturimeter

Venturi meters are applied to measure the quantity of liquid that flows through a pipe. It is typically used when you wish to measure liquids that are high in viscosity such as mercury. The meter consists of a closed system in which the converging portion leads into the throat and then into the diverging part of the pipe.

The Importance of Choosing the Right Flow Meter

To ensure that measuring and monitoring applications are accurate, it is important to choose the right flow measurement products. This includes consideration for the application, the properties of the meter, and its intended operation. By assessing each product, it is easier to determine which device will be most suitable for measurement, control, and assessment.
